May was a busy and exciting month here at Alloy. Let's start with the Big News first....
Alloy Homes Incorporated wins 2017 CHBA National Award for Housing Excellence!
Mace and Julia headed to St John’s, Newfoundland for the CHBA National Conference in May. They came back rejuvenated and more importantly brought home a 2017 CHBA National Award for Housing Excellence for our Kensington Townhouse project! Our sincere thanks to the Canadian Homebuilders' Association, to our clients, and to everyone who was involved in the design and construction of this incredible project. Check it out here.
Best of Houzz Awards
We’re pleased to announce that we’ve received two 2017 awards from the design and remodelling web site Houzz.com. Our work was chosen by the more than 40 million monthly unique users that comprise the Houzz community from among more than one million active home building, remodeling and design industry professionals.
The Best Of Houzz is awarded annually in three categories: Design, Customer Service and Photography. Design award winners’ work was the most popular among the more than 40 million monthly users on Houzz. Customer Service honors are based on several factors, including the number and quality of client reviews a professional received in 2016. Architecture and interior design photographers whose images were most popular are recognized with the Photography award. Look for the “Best Of Houzz 2017” badges on our profile page.
Kensington Laneway House
We’re in the midst of installing interior details at our Kensington Laneway House. Cabinets, doors, and trim are installed and the walls are being prepped for painting.
The Main House and Laneway Suite both feature custom cabinets and millwork by Ateliers Jacob. We’ve specified a clean, white lacquered look throughout, with stained wood accent pieces for added warmth and texture. Hidden panels and pockets allow for additional storage. It’s exciting to see how the design vision is coming together on site!
Hounsfield Heights House
The house is done and our clients are happily settling in. Now that spring is here we’re finishing off the seasonal landscape elements. Our clients are avid gardeners and we’ve
been collaborating on the relocation of over 200 original plants that
were transplanted from the old garden before we started building the new
Our Kensington Townhouse was the subject of a Globe and Mail feature article this month that highlighted its creative urbanism and really interesting back story.
Here’s a link to the article [as of the date of this post, they still
have the article behind a paywall so please accept our apologies if you aren’t a Globe Unlimited subscriber!]
Our very own Design Manager, Julia Mercer, was interviewed
by Business in Calgary Magazine. Check out the interview here [p
